Emily Taylor Rogers
is a painter, mixed media artist, and muralist creating fine embellished artworks out of her studio in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
The works of American artist Emily Taylor Rogers have been exhibited across the United States, from California to New York. She has presented her works in art fairs such as Market Art + Design in the Hamptons and Aqua at Art Basel Miami. Her artwork is displayed in collections and homes around the country and internationally. Emily earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Gwen Frostic School of Art at Western Michigan University.
Emily’s work focuses on relationships, both internal and external. She challenges the viewer to confront modern society and the human condition, and how they affect our world. Her social commentary seeks to illuminate the internal relationships humans hold within themselves, and how this affects the relationships with their surroundings. Through this, Emily questions how our internal dialogs can affect our perceptions, our decisions, and our innate behaviors. Bestowed with consciousness, it is human responsibility to ourselves and the planet to reflect on human patterns and the power we hold.
Bringing a contemporary approach by combining traditional processes with her love for experimentation, Emily’s artistic practice results in multimedia works that project her vision. Using subjects of portraiture, animals and other elements of the cosmos, she exposes the relationships between human and nature in recognizable but surreal compositions. Using her personal experiences and knowledge as inspiration, she incorporates symbolism of femininity and spirituality to project her personal perspective, but allows the viewer to apply their own interpretation of the work.
Embellishing each piece with adornments such as 24k gold, Swarovski crystals and diamond dust emphasizes the importance between the subjects and the value of their relationships, while giving a luxurious and contemporary aesthetic. Using a limited color palette allows for deeper exploration of each subject and concept, while bringing attention to the ornamentation’s light and reflection. The position of the viewer and lighting in the room will constantly alter the way each piece appears, Emily welcomes that variability into her artwork as it creates another level of relationship between the viewer and the piece. Emily’s processes take hours of meticulous detailed work and concentration. Taking great pride in her work, she only uses high quality and archival materials, ensuring the artwork will live on.
Emily strives to continually chase freedom, be authentic and to be inspired by the energies surrounding her. Her goal is to stay multidimensional in her practice, and never stop learning and growing as an artist. Her constant hope throughout her artistic journey is to shine a little light into this world and cause people to think and feel deeply.
